Woodrow Slades, Jr.

   Clenton Woodrow Slades, Jr., 82, of 1756 Belvidere Road, Belvidere, NC, died Sunday, April 21, 2024, in ECU Health Medical Center, Greenville.

   Mr. Slades was born in Chowan County on February 17, 1942, and was the son of the late Clenton W., Sr. and Evelyn Parrish Slades. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Cecilia Warner Slades.

   A graduate of East Carolina Teacher’s College (now East Carolina University), he taught classes while serving in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Employments included Lowes of Elizabeth City, Perdue, Inc., and East Carolina Supply in Plymouth. He attended Good Sheperd Lutheran Church in Elizabeth City.

   Surviving is his daughter, Mary Elizabeth “Betsy” Slades of Belvidere; a sister, Kay Dennison of Jarvisburg; a brother, Mike Slades (wife, Connie) of Edenton; two nieces, Misty and Jessica; a nephew, Brett; and several extended family members and friends.

   A private graveside gathering is planned.
