William Phillips (Phil) Wynn of Hertford, North Carolina was called home on September 7, 2026. Phil was a devoted husband and father, a treasured friend, and a powerful example of faith to all who knew him. His love for God was woven through every part of his life, shaping the way he loved his family, encouraged others, and welcomed people into his heart.

Born October 23, 1937 in Lynchburg, Virginia to Iris Quarles Wynn and William Phillips (Phil) Wynn, Sr., Phil was raised alongside his siblings Faye, Ron and Jim in Southwestern Virginia. He attended Bluefield (Virginia) High School where he lettered in football and was voted Best All Around in his Senior Class. He graduated from Emory and Henry College with a degree in psychology and later pursued graduate studies in Research Psychology at George Washington University.

Phil married his college sweetheart, Margaret Jones, in 1960 and they celebrated their 66th year of marriage in January 2026.

Phil enjoyed a long and varied professional life marked by leadership, entrepreneurship, and a gift for encouraging others to reach their potential. His career included work as a computer programmer and analyst and as a sales executive and Vice President for the Zig Ziglar Corporation. He later founded Wynner’s Circle, his own consulting, training and speaking company and continued sharing his experience by advising and training GM automotive dealership teams in sales, customer service, and organizational development.

Phil’s career culminated in a twenty-year ministry journey with his wife, Margi by his side. Through Restoring the Foundations Ministry, they provided transformative Biblical counseling and witnessed God’s healing in marriages and individuals.

Phil is preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Margi; his daughters, Dana Wynn Steele (Alan), Denise A. Wynn and Jennifer Wynn Armstrong (Brian); 19 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, all of whom will deeply miss him.

In his later years. Phil treasured his role as the family patriarch and beloved “Poppy”, a title he wore with great joy. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who loved him dearly and valued his wisdom, encouragement and steady presence.

Phil leaves behind a beautiful and enduring legacy of faith, family, encouragement, and a genuine love for others - a legacy that will continue to live on in the many lives he touched.

Phil’s Celebration of Life Service is open to all and will take place on October 10 at 11:00 AM at Evangelical Methodist Church, 820 Old Okisko Road, Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Reception to follow at the church.
