William "Bill" Vogedes, III

William "Bill" Vogedes III, 69, died peacefully at home in Edenton, NC, on May 31, 2026.

The only son of William and Ernestine Jones Vogedes, Bill was raised in Raleigh, NC, and graduated from Broughton High School before heading to NC State University, Class of 1979, where he became an avid Wolfpack fan and a brother of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

Professionally, Bill was President of Vogedes Insurance Agency in Edenton and Kitty Hawk. Named a Paul Harris Fellow, Bill was a longtime member of the Edenton Rotary Club. He served on the Board of the Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina for many years before serving as Chairman.

Bill loved fishing, golfing, playing cards, and any sport involving a ball. He coached his daughters in soccer and softball.

Bill is survived by his wife, Ginger Byrum Vogedes, of the home; his daughters, Elizabeth "Betsy" Hicks (Paul) of Edenton and Leigh Hood (Daniel) of Raleigh; and his granddaughters, Libba Hicks, Caroline Hood, and Lily Hood, who were the lights of his life.

A Celebration of Life for Bill Vogedes will be held at Edenton Baptist Church in Edenton, on Friday, June 5th, at 11:00 am. Friends may join the family for a reception immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Albemarle, 824 N. Oakum Street, Edenton, NC 27932.
