William Callan Hahne

   William Callan "Bill" Hahne, 96, of Elizabeth City, NC, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023 in The Citadel of Elizabeth City.

   Mr. Hahne was born in New York, NY on October 29, 1926, and was the son of the late John A. and Eleanor Callan Hahne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Renee Babcock Hahne; sons, Danny Flynn and Billy Hahne; and by a sister, Constance Schneider.

   A successful businessman, for many years he worked in management level positions in both automotive and boat sales. An Army veteran of World War II, he had previously been active in the Edward G. Bond Post 40 of the American Legion in Edenton, and had also enjoyed fellowship in Evangelical Methodist Church in Elizabeth City.

   Surviving are his four children, Debbie Flynn of Bedford, VA, Kevin Hahne and wife, Susan, of Virginia Beach, VA, Theresia Cowell and husband, Jerry, of Elizabeth City, and Diane Swanner and husband, Arthur, of Edenton; a sister, Cathy Morris; a brother, Robert Hahne, both of Norfolk, VA; eight grandchildren, Jason, Bridgette, Amber, Kevin II, Brandie, Dustin, Hayley, and Jennifer; and 21 great-grandchildren.

   A private memorial service will be held.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a church of one's choice.
