Don Alred

 William Don Alred, 81, of 108 Mark Drive, Apartment 9, Edenton, NC, died Thursday, July 4, 2024, in his home.

 Don was born in Calhoun, Georgia on October 4, 1942, and was the son of the late John William Alred and Hasselltine Harris Alred Dorsey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunt who raised him, Alice Harris Armstrong.

 A graduate of Wilmington College, now the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, he had retired from the North Carolina Department of Revenue where he worked as tax revenue officer. Raised in Wilmington, he was a member of St. Andrews Covenant Presbyterian Church, and since moving to Edenton, he and his wife attended First Christian Church in the Historic Mill Village as long as health permitted.

 Surviving is his wife of 34 years, Susan Alexander Alred; a daughter, Jennifer Jones (Kevin); and two grandchildren, Kaylyn and Kolby Jones.

 In accordance with his wishes, services will be private. He will be laid to rest in Beaver Hill Cemetery in Edenton. Friends may call on the family at the residence.
