Vivian A. Sutton, daughter of the late Moran and Mamie Sutton was born on April 15, 1942 in Hertford, North Carolina. She departed this life on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at Gates House in Gates County, North Carolina.

She was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness and loved everyone she came in contact with. Vivian loved Jehovah very much and would defend His name wherever she went.

Vivian was a professional family assistant who worked for Saul and Mary Sanders for many years, and considered them as her family. She loved and cared for their three children, Rebecca, Beth, and Chaim.

Vivian loved going to dinner, sightseeing, car riding and traveling around the world. She loved letter writing for her ministry, even when she couldn’t get out in the field to do so. Vivian loved to talk on the phone about her God, Jehovah. She enjoyed and loved reading her Bible. Vivian also attended the assembly with the Heckstall family whom she loved. She was always happy when Brother Shackelford and Elton came to visit her. She always loved when the Gibbs family would bring her gifts and getting a big ole smile fromTomeka. Vivian could never forget how blessed she was when Diane and Annette Price would drive her around for field service, and anywhere else she wanted to go. She also loved the Sanford family and had the fondest memory of Dorothy.

In addition to her parents, Vivian was preceded in death by her daughter, Odessa; one brother, Moran Sutton, Jr.; and three sisters, Katie, Annabel, and Gerline.

Vivian leaves behind to cherish her memory, one sister, Patricia Sutton of Brooklyn, NY; Grace Holley of Winfall, NC, considered as sister and a special friend; two granddaughters, Latarsha Watson of Bear, Delaware, and Katrina Wingate of Queens, NY; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a special cousin, Reggie who Vivian loved so much.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026 at the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, Hertford, NC.

Funeral services celebrating Vivian’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 224 W. Main Street, Hertford, NC. Interment will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery, Hertford, NC.
