Virginia Whitt Wehner

   Virginia Ruth Whitt Wehner, 79, of Mexico Road, Edenton, NC, died Thursday, July 14, 2022 in her home.

   Mrs. Wehner was born in Bluefield, Virginia on July 10, 1943, and was one of 14 children born to the late Alonzo and Gladys Virginia Thompson Whitt.

   Employed for many years in the restaurant business, many will remember her for her years of working at Leon Nixon’s Catering.

   Surviving are four children, Kelly Ann Fields (husband, Ron) of Lincolnton, Kimberly Marie Smith (husband, Andrew) of Charlotte, Gladys Virginia Lysitt (husband, Kyle) of Edenton, and Charles Edward Mawhinney, III (wife, Rhonda, deceased) of Enterprise, AL; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

   A memorial service to celebrate her life is being planned for a future date.

   The children wish to express their deep appreciation to Calyb Hare for the friendship he shared with their mother, for the time he spent with her, and for the care he provided.
