Victoria Lynn James, a beacon of light and love, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the age of 43. Born on July 22, 1983, in Ahoskie, NC, Victoria grew up surrounded by family, warmth, and a deeply ingrained love for life. She resided in Durham, NC, where her vibrant spirit touched countless lives.
Victoria was the cherished daughter, sister, mother, and friend to many. Her zest for life was evident in everything she did—from her infectious laughter and her bright energy to her unwavering love for her family and friends. She was a devoted "people person," known for being the life of the party and bringing joy to every room she entered.
Professionally, Victoria was dedicated to her work in the manufacturing field, where her diligence and passion were recognized by colleagues and friends alike. Outside of work, Victoria had a natural affinity for animals and treasured her time with her beloved two dogs. She found immense joy in cooking for her family and exploring the great outdoors, especially when fishing or spending quality time with her children. Victoria's love for the Lord was evident, shining through her kind-hearted nature and the compassion she showed to all.
She is survived by her adoring daughter, Dasia Lynn James of Durham, NC, and her beloved son, Jeffrey James Jr., step-daughters; Shaquonda James, and Nee Nee James. Victoria also leaves behind her loving mother Judy (Heath-"Pops") Hughes, father, William (Deloris) Brown, her loving siblings: four sisters, Heather Herrin, Elizabeth Barnes, Hayley Mizell, and Linda Farmer, and three brothers, James Brown, Willie Brown, and Vann Willingham, and a host of loving nieces, nephew, family and friends. She is preceded in death by her devoted spouse, Jeffrey James, whose memory she cherished dearly.
To honor Victoria's life, a Visitation will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 4:00 PM. Both events will take place at Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Homes & Crematory - Edenton, where family and friends will gather to reminisce and celebrate the wonderful memories she left us.
Victoria Lynn James will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those blessed to have experienced her love and laughter. May she rest in peace.
Family has requested casual attire for this special occasion.
