Timothy Lee Spitler

   Timothy Lee Spitler, 60, of Hertford, NC, passed away Friday, October 28, 2022 in his home.

   Mr. Spitler was born in Waynesboro, VA on February 9, 1962, and was the son of the late Robert Cecil, Jr. and Gloria Kay Carpenter Spitler. A graduate of Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, VA, he retired as Director of Production from Norfolk Naval Shipyard following 39 years of employment. An active member of Whiteville Grove Baptist Church where he was currently serving as Chairman of the Deacons, other memberships enjoyed included Ruritans International, having served both as a Past National Director and currently as Governor for the Albemarle District.

   Surviving is his wife of 37 years, Judith "Angie" Spitler; a daughter, Joyce Hines (Daniel); two sons, Robert Spitler (Margaret) and Jacob Spitler (Mary); four brothers, James Carpenter (Darlene), Robert Spitler, III (Leslie), David Spitler (Janet), and Phillip Spitler (Deborah); seven grandchildren, Madison Harlow (Bailey), and Makayla, Ethan, Isabelle, Alex, Benjamin, and Sullivan Spitler; and a great-granddaughter, Lily Jane Harlow.

   A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Whiteville Grove Baptist Church and will be conducted by Pastors E. Lee Penwell and Lonnie Coker. Friends may visit with the family in the church social hall immediately following the service on Wednesday, and all other times at the residence.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made either to Whiteville Grove Baptist Church, in care of Kaye Winslow, 1823 Belvidere Road, Belvidere, NC 27919, or to any chapter of the American Cancer Society.
