Mr. Thomas Jordan Bowen, 77, of Windsor, NC passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 15, 2025.
A native of Windsor, NC, Thomas was the husband of 55 years to his beloved wife, Betty Ray Bowen and was the son of James Thomas Bowen and Della Mae Dunlow Bowen, both deceased. Thomas was a devout Christian who loved God and his family dearly. He was a faithful member of Edgewood Baptist Church for many years. Thomas worked for more than 37 years at Weyerhauser, Plymouth, NC where he served in many capacities such as an EMT, stock prep, and boiler room operator. He was a volunteer and EMT with Bertie County EMS. Thomas loved hunting, fishing, cooking and working in his shop. He was a member of numerous hunting clubs and was a big fan of “Roanoke Cashie Youth Dream Team”. Even though Thomas was an only child, growing up in a small family, he embraced Betty’s family as his own and loved them all.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; two daughters, Kimberly Bowen Parker, and Cindy Bowen Johnson and husband, Brooks; six grandchildren, Abigail Moreland and husband, Joel, Kayla Remick, Emily Remick, Jesse Williams, Graysin Bracy, and Linsey Johnson; great grandson, Layton Moreland; honorary grandsons “His Boys”, Ace Clark and Devin Cherry; his beloved dog, Missy; and his two granddogs, Molly and Ivy Kate.
A memorial service celebrating Thomas’ life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2025 at Edgewood Baptist Church, 112 Lea Lumber Company Road, Windsor, NC with Pastor Zach Hicks officiating.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to nurses Lindsay Vaughn and Kayla Baker along with the ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Oncology Team and ICU for their care and support during this difficult time.
