Syble Hendrix Akins Harrell

   Syble Hendrix Akins Harrell, 86, of 235-C Tynch Town Road, Edenton, NC, died Tuesday, November 16, 2021 in Vidant Chowan Hospital.

   Mrs. Harrell was born in Carroll County, GA on August 30, 1935 and was the daughter of the late William Curtis and Magnolia Spradlin Hendrix. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, A.R. Akins and Lloyd Marcus “Mark” Harrell; her son, Marvin Lee Akins; two sisters, Hazel and Emma; and by a brother, Douglas.

   Mrs. Harrell had worked many years as a nurse’s aide, and later provided in home care for the elderly. She was a member of Open Door Baptist Church.

   Surviving are two daughters, Patsy Brasington of Fayetteville, and Janet Harrell of Edenton; her sisters and brothers, Marlene, Sandra, Robert, Sidney, and Tony, all of Georgia; seven grandchildren, Stevie, Michelle, Shawn, James Lee, Layla, Samantha, and Bradley; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton. The burial will follow in the Harrell Family Cemetery. Friends may join the family Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
