Susie Twine Byrum

   Susie Twine Byrum, 74, of 1106 Ryland Road, Tyner, NC, passed away Monday, January 9, 2023 in her home.

   Mrs. Byrum was born in Perquimans County on June 10, 1948, and was the daughter of the late William Jasper Twine and Blanche East Harrell and raised along with her mother by her step-father, the late William Edison Harrell.

   A homemaker, she enjoyed fellowship in Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church where she attended church for many years. Other enjoyments included her knack of working on home projects and her love of flowers and gardening.

   Surviving is her husband of 23 years, James Thomas Byrum, Sr.; two daughters, Valerie Pate (husband, Ricky) and Amy Brynteson (husband, Mike), both of Wanchese; a son, Stephen Copeland (wife, Christy) of Williamston; a brother, Ronnie Harrell (wife, Cathy) of Tyner; and seven grandchildren, Douglas (wife, Veronica), Cora, Jacob, Christian, Ethan, Mason, and Adeline. Also surviving are James' three children, Wendy Byrum, James Byrum, Jr., and Ann Paige Barclay.

   A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be conducted by Pastor Joshua Christmas. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home immediately following the service on Saturday, and other times at the residence.

   The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Wendy Byrum for all the care provided to Mrs. Byrum these past few years and for making it possible for her to remain in the comfort of her own home during her declining health.
