Sadie "Sam" Marie Evans

Sadie “Sam” Marie Ryland Evans, 78, passed away on February 24, 2026 in Edenton, NC at her home. Sadie was born in Rapides Parish, LA, and was the daughter of the late William Garnett Ryland and Hazel White Ryland.

Sadie is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wynn Evans, and her daughter, Tracie Lyn Gandy.

Sadie is survived by her daughter, Brooke Goodwin and her husband Wade, of Edenton, NC; grandchildren, Mitch Byrum and wife Jennifer, Lake Byrum and Kennedy, Kelly Gandy, Taylor Evans, Chloe Evans, Jack Gandy, and John Thomas Hines; and 2 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at a later date.

Flowers and visitors are welcome at Brooke and Wade’s home in Edenton, NC.
