Rodolfo "Rudy" Bravo Alvarado

Rodolfo “Rudy” Bravo Alvarado, of Tyner, NC, passed away peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters, on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

Born in Michoacán and a native of Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point), Sonora, Mexico, Rudy was the devoted husband of 37 years to Mireya Lopez Alvarado. He was the son of Pascual Alvarado and Ramona Bravo Alvarado, both of whom preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Mireya; daughters, Mariel Parrish and husband Chris, and Marla Corprew and husband Jonathan; four cherished grandchildren, Jaxon Parrish, Penelope Parrish, Evelia Corprew, and Lucas Corprew; along with many extended family members and friends residing in Mexico and California.

Planting new roots, Rudy brought his family to the United States in 1989 to pursue his American dream and became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2011. A longtime commercial fisherman, he served as first mate on his boat and found deep purpose in providing for his family.

His grandchildren were the apple of his eye, and “no” was never a word spoken to them. Rudy was a man of few words, but when he spoke, he meant every one of them. His infectious smile and quiet strength will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The Alvarado family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Physicians East Greenville, UNC Cancer Hospital, ECU Chowan Hospital, and Albemarle Home Care & Hospice for their compassionate care. A special thank you is extended to Dr. Casey Dail Priest for her guidance, assistance, and support to the family during this difficult time.

A memorial service celebrating Rudy’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Faith Fellowship Baptist Church, 3500 Virginia Road, Tyner, NC, with Evangelist Jay Corprew officiating. The family will greet friends with a reception in the fellowship hall immediately following the service.
