Robert Lee Nobles

   Robert Lee “Bobby” Nobles, 89, of Chesapeake, VA, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023 in his home where he was being cared for by family.

   Mr. Nobles was born in Craven County, NC, on April 14, 1934, and was the son of the late Vernon Ryan Nobles and Lizzie Mae Pryor Nobles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Smith Nobles; his step-mother, Lula Mae Clark Nobles; a daughter-in-law, Jean Nobles; and by brothers, Edward Nobles (wife, Ann Marie, deceased) and William Nobles.

   Retired from Volvo of America, he was a member of Broadmoor Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was an Army veteran.

   Surviving are his three sons, Robert E. Nobles (wife, Donna) of South Mills, NC, Ricky Nobles of Chesapeake, and Ronald Nobles (wife, Sara) of Eure, NC; a brother, Larry Nobles (wife, Denise) of Elizabeth City, NC; five grandchildren, Robert Lee Nobles (wife, Michelle), Terina Culpeper (husband, Josh), both of South Mills, Carrie Burks (husband, Sam), Dalton Nobles, both of Lynchburg, VA, and Jennifer Nobles of Chesapeake; and five great-grandchildren, Morgan, Jackson, and Emma Nobles, Paisley Mae Culpeper and Josephine Mae Burks.

   Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in Celestial Memorial Gardens, 7715 Main Street, Vanceboro, NC. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation on Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, NC.
