Richard Lynwood Head, 92, of Edenton, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025.

Richard was born in Shenandoah Valley, Virginia, on September 29, 1933 and was the son of the late Alvin Dee Head and Gladys Olive Head.

Richard is preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Ann Harrell, and second wife Cherlene Turner Head.

Richard is survived by his sons, Karl Head (Debbie), Timothy James Head, and adopted son from Brazil Joao Alves De Sousa; two grandchildren, Jack (Kim) and Jordan (Austin); and three great grandchildren, Maxwell, Brady, and Riley.

Richard was a missionary and pastor for many years, serving a 50 year mission in Brazil, where he spread the word of God. Richard also was a veteran of the US Navy for four years, serving on the USS Forrestal ship as a mechanic. Richard was also a nature enthusiast, walking around with his walking stick watching squirrels, birds, and other wildlife.

The family wants to thank the churches and ministries for their faithfulness in prayers and support. May the Lord continue to bless each of you.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Harrell Family Cemetery in Edenton, NC.
