Rhonda Gwen Perry Calvert, age 70, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026 surrounded by her family and friend David Bernard.

Born in Elizabeth City, she graduated from Camden High School in 1974. She was a resident of Shiloh, North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen E. and Opal Dozier Perry and her sister Margaret Perry Barker. Gwen is survived by her loving family, who will miss her dearly: husband of 49 years, Jim Calvert, sons Jimmy, Thomas and Eric, sister Sharon Foster (Robert), brothers Steve and Chris (Belinda) and grandsons Jonathan and Jeremy Calvert, several nieces and nephews, and a special aunt Lilly”Sissy”Basnight.

Gwen never met a stranger and she made everyone feel welcome. Her warm smile, kind heart and positive outlook carried her through many of life’s challenges. She will be remembered for her strength, compassion and the love she gave to all.

The family is planning a celebration of life at a later date.
