Rebecca Skidgel Owens

   Rebecca Skidgel Owens, 62, of Edenton, NC, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021 in Vidant Chowan Hospital.

   Born in Hartford, CT on August 24, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Ervin J. Skidgel and Mavis June Doody Akerson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Norman Akerson.

   Surviving is her fiancé, William Owens of Edenton; two daughters, Donna Emory Moran (Dennis Parton) of Newport News, VA and Wendy Owens (Aubrey Perkins) of Edenton; two sons, Donald Emory, Jr. (Brooke Emory) of Selkirk, NY and Robert Emory (Heather Emory) of Troy, NY; a sister, Ann Weatherington of Hertford; a brother, Fred “Skip” Ewing of Pinetops; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

   A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 6, at 2:00 p.m. in Bethlehem Church of Christ, 602 Pender Road, Hertford, and will be conducted by Minister Chris Shoaff.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any chapter of either the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
