Raymond L. Rapier, a beloved father and decorated veteran, passed away on August 20, 2025. He was born on February 19, 1937, in Grover, Colorado, to Charles Asbury Rapier and Minnie Bell Radcliff Rapier. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Josefa “Liesa” Glasner Rapier and his daughter, Johanna Collins Steinmacher.
Raymond grew up in Cheyenne, Wyoming, before dedicating his life to serving his country. He proudly joined the U.S. Army, serving in Korea and completing two tours of duty in Vietnam. It was in Munich, Germany, that he met and married his late wife, Josefa Glasner Rapier, who passed away in 2012.
Raymond is survived by his son, Erwin K. Collins; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Rapier Lamothe and her husband, George; Rose Sherman and her husband Larry; Doris McLean, her husband David; Darlene Mertz, her husband Bryan; a sister, Carol Jenson; grandchildren, Michael Collins, Dawn Marie and Lee and Charlie Raymond Rapier, Sean Richard Boardman and Michael Stuart Boardman; Emma Cruiser, Madison McLean, David McLean and Alexis Mertz; numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, August 28 at Damascus Church Cemetery with Pastor Mark Wethington officiating.
