Polly Preston Mitchell

Polly Preston Mitchell, 74, of Eure, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026 in Ahoskie. Born December 14, 1951 in Gates County, she was the wife of the late Timothy Wayne Mitchell and daughter of the late Raleigh M. and Shirley Doughtie Eure. Polly worked for many years for her father's restaurant, Tarheel BBQ. She loved her animals, and in her later years, she enjoyed doing word puzzles. She had a sharp memory, and always remembered people's birthdays, anniversaries, and phone numbers.

She is survived by a step-daughter, Amy Goodman; six step-sons, Tom Preston, Bill Preston, Rob Preston, Clay Mitchell and his wife, Lisa, Eric Mitchell, and Brian Mitchell; and two sisters, Paige Hedgepeth and her husband, Ricky of Eure and Jackie Cozart of Raleigh.

A memorial service will be held on Monday at 2 pm in Eure Baptist Church with Pastor Joseph Bourn officiating. Interment will be private.
