Phyllis Bulls Johnson

   Phyllis Diane Bulls Johnson, 74, of 1231 Ramsey Road, Elizabeth City, NC, passed away Monday, August 14, 2023 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City.

   Mrs. Johnson was born in Chowan County on February 17, 1949, and was the daughter of the late Sydney Washington Bulls and Norma Jernigan Bulls. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Haislip, and by a brother, Tom Bulls.

   A homemaker, she grew up in the fellowship of Center Hill Baptist Church.

   Surviving is her husband of 55 years, Douglas Fenton Johnson; a son, John Johnson (wife, Michelle); two daughters, Kristy and Kendra Johnson; a brother, Robert Bulls; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

   A memorial service will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be conducted by the Rev. Russell Blanchard. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home immediately following the service on Saturday.
