Philip John Lunsford

Philip John Lunsford died June 11, 2020, Raleigh, NC. Born to Kathleen Amelia Rucker Lunsford and Robert Lee Lunsford, Jr. March 5, 1926, Cleveland Oklahoma. Brothers Robert Lee Lunsford III and Tom Rucker Lunsford predeceased him as did his parents. Survived by his wife of 68 years, Jean Funk Lunsford; children Kathleen Helms (Charles), Rosemary Lunsford (Nelson), Philip Lunsford II (Anne); grandchildren Amelia Blake (Bill), Julie Helms, Mary Walker (Brad), David Caudle, Carrie Barnhart (Thomas), Jeanne Sanders (Alicia), Priscilla Lunsford; great grandchildren Natalie Walker and Elijah Barnhart. He was a graduate of Cleveland High School and University of Oklahoma with a degree in chemical engineering. While attending university he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He worked for Dow Chemical and Hercules Inc., and was a resting ruling elder of the Presbyterian church. His service in the Army included WWII in Italy with the 10^th Mountain Division and also during the Korean conflict with the 24th Infantry Division. He loved the mountains, traveling, and most of all his family.
