Norma Wells Hardee

   Norma Jean Wells “Sunny” Hardee, 67, of Hertford, NC, passed away Monday, September 11, 2023.

   Mrs. Hardee was born in Washington, D.C. on September 5, 1956, and was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Wells, Jr. and June Gray Crawford Wells. Employed as a home health aide for many years, she was a member of New Hope Church. An avid NASCAR fan, she loved racing and especially racing her car at Dixieland Speedway.

   Surviving is her husband of 25 years, William Neill Hardee; three daughters, Liberty Justice Lang (John) and Charity Faith English (Bobby), both of Elizabeth City, and Candace Summer Godfrey-Vestal (Michael) of Hertford; a son, Benjamin Freedom Shubert (Crystal) of Chesapeake, VA; two brothers, Robert Wells, III of Shiloh and Richard Wells of Florida; 11 grandchildren, J.J., Tommy, Bruce, R.J., T.J., Brynnley, Tyler, Riley, Jeremiah, Elijah, and Aeryon; and two great-grandchildren, Carter and Haisley.

   Funeral services will be held Friday, October 6, at 3:00 p.m. in New Hope Church, and will be conducted by The Rev. Carroll Bundy. Friends may visit with the family in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the service. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery.
