Nelson Alexander Martinez

Nelson Alexander Martinez, of Hertford, NC, beloved fiancé, father, brother, and friend, passed away on Monday, September 7th, 2026, at the age of 45. Born on May 8, 1981, Alex was the son of Charles Ferrell and the late Donna Hicks.

Alex is survived by his loving fiancé, Norma Hall, who stood by his side through life's joyful and challenging moments. He leaves behind his two adored children, Cadence Moss and Niyah Elliott, who were the light of his life, also a sister, Marissa Biondo (frank), and brother, Charles Ferrell Jr. (Jessica); niece, Madilyn Biondo, and his special nephew, Landyn Gutierrez, as well as other nieces and nephews who brought him immense joy.

Alex is preceded in death by his mother, Donna Hicks.

Alex enjoyed building things, he was a contractor by nature, he was also an avid music lover. Alex is also described as being highly intelligent, he was known as a walking encyclopedia to many.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Homes & Crematory in Hertford, who are providing the family with the care and support they need during this difficult time.

Alex will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family and friends, his dedication to those he held dear, and the joy he found in life. His legacy will live on through the cherished memories shared by all who were lucky enough to know him.
