Nan Harrell Hudgins

   Nannie Harrell “Nan” Hudgins, 75, of 1895 NC 37 South, Hobbsville, NC, died Monday, March 6, 2023 in her home where she was cared for by her family.

   Mrs. Hudgins was born in Suffolk, VA on August 30, 1947 and was the youngest of three daughters born to the late Clyde Weldon and Ruth Lillian Evans Harrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters and their husbands, Rita and Eldridge Eure and Carolyn and Carl Taylor.

   Nan’s life’s work was in varied positions in the medical field. She had worked at both Taylor’s Pharmacy in Gatesville and at Boone-Taylor Pharmacy in Ahoskie, as a purchasing agent with Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, and lastly as a Dental Assistant with Albemarle Regional Health Services.

   A faithful member of Zion United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women, she also served her Lord as a member of the Albemarle Emmaus Group and with the Kairos Prison Ministry Team.

   Surviving is her husband of nearly 45 years, James Ward “Jimmy” Hudgins; and their children, Karen Hudgins Perez (husband, John) of Edenton, Susanne Hudgins Stallings (husband, Robbie) of Hobbsville, Jimmy Hudgins (wife, Nicole) of Woonsocket, RI and Ward Hudgins (wife, Kimberly) of Rolesville; ten grandchildren, Camdyn, Mason, Carter (wife, Kristen), Weldon, Evans, Jameson, Carson, Madison, Brent and Kelsey; and a great-granddaughter, Fiona Grace.

   A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 12th, at 3:00 p.m. in Zion United Methodist Church and will be conducted by her pastor, The Reverend Elizabeth Villegas and by longtime family friend, The Reverend C.D. White. The burial will be private in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family in the social hall of the church immediately following the service or all other times at the residence.
