Mildred McClenny Johnston

   Mildred McClenny “Mili” Johnston, 93, formerly of Johnston Lane in Sunbury, NC, died Monday, April 4, 2022 in Autumn Care of Chesapeake, VA.

   Mrs. Johnston was born in Franklin, VA on June 18, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Letcher Conway and Eunice Cotton McClenny. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William David Johnston; sisters, Virginia Page and Marjorie Curtis; and by brothers, Cotton, Conway, and Gordon “Shot” McClenny; and a son-in-law, Stan Plevyak.

   A homemaker and former secretary, as long as health permitted she was a faithful member of Beulah Baptist Church in Sunbury.

   Surviving is her daughter, Linda Plevyak of Chesapeake; her son, William Robert White of Nashville, TN; five grandchildren, Matthew Plevyak, Jennifer Lantz (Brent), Jeremy White (Paula), Michelle White, and Ben White; and three great-grandchildren, Vance Ryan Plevyak, Stella Grace Lantz, and Levi Graham Lantz.

   Funeral services will be held Monday, April 11^th, at 11:00 a.m. in Beulah Baptist Church and will be conducted by Pastor Greg Jernigan. Friends are invited to visit with the family in the social hall immediately following the service. The burial will be later that afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in Rosewood Memorial Park in Virginia Beach.
