Michele Hayden, 70, of Elizabeth City, passed away Monday, January 5, 2026 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Hayden was born in Portsmouth, VA on February 15th, 1955, and was the daughter of the late Miguel and Joanne Ullom.
A graduate of Norview High School and Tidewater Community College, she worked as a bookkeeper for many years. Michele was an avid reader and People Magazine Crossword-solver, and had a kind, giving heart. Known as an angel, she would purposely add lipstick to make sure others carried her "red lipstick kisses" away with them. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and treated everyone as family.
Surviving is her loving husband of 42 years, Larry S. Hayden; a daughter, Amanda E. Baker and her husband, Timothy of Virginia Beach; a son, Todd A. Dean and his wife, Angela of Chesapeake; a daughter, Jennifer Hayden; eight grandchildren, Sebastian Lewis, Amber Gray, Vincent Baker, Patrick Baker, Brianna Dean, John Franco Baker, Jon Christian King and Lilly Hayden; three great-grandchildren, Michael, Emma, and Olivia; and two sisters, Donna Lemoine and Valerie Mullen; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and other family members, whom she loved very much. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Christian Lewis.
A memorial service will be planned for a later date.
