Michael Elliott Boyle, a devoted husband, respected leader, and kind soul, passed away on May 20, 2025, in the loving care of his family. Born on July 22, 1953, in Norfolk, Virginia, Michael lived a life marked by hard work, compassion, and unwavering love for those around him.
A graduate of Bayside High School and Sherwin-Williams University, Michael began working early in life alongside his father, Clarence “Red” Boyle, drilling wells throughout the Virginia Beach area. These early years laid the foundation for his tireless work ethic and deep sense of responsibility—values that would define his entire life.
Michael's career journey was varied and impactful. He joined the team at Norfolk Paint, where he specialized in auto paint, earning a reputation for his attention to detail and outstanding customer service. He later found his calling with the Salvation Army, where he quickly became a valued manager in the thrift stores across Hampton Roads. Known for his dedication, integrity, and ability to make everyone feel welcome, Michael helped expand the mission of the Salvation Army and left a lasting impression on both his team and the community.
He continued his work with the Salvation Army in management roles at locations including Hilltop (Virginia Beach), Chesapeake, and Elizabeth City, North Carolina. In every store and community, Michael brought warmth, positivity, and an open heart to those he served.
Later, he advanced through Sherwin-Williams, spending many years with the company. Part of management at several locations across Hampton Roads, Michael knew paint and was very respected among painting contractors in Hampton Roads and all over Eastern NC. When relocating to Eastern North Carolina, he later left retirement and joined Kellogg’s Supply Company in Edenton, where he rediscovered his joy for paint work—mixing colors, helping customers. Beloved by coworkers and customers alike, Michael was known for his constant smile, even on the toughest days.
Above all, Michael was a family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Roberta Rose Boyle of Edenton, NC; his children, Chuck Fisher of Pittsburgh, PA, and Christy Breeden (Chris) of Suffolk, VA; his sister, Carol Boyle Leszczynski of Virginia Beach, VA; his cherished niece, Sarah Cashwell (Eric) of Virginia Beach, VA; his nephews, Rob Boyle of Colorado and Mike Hanna of Florida; his cousin, Kathy Bailey of New Jersey; and his beloved grandchildren, Alyssa, Charlynn, Andrew, and Jacob. Each of them carries forward his love, wisdom, and the quiet strength he lived by every day.
Michael Boyle will be remembered for his gentle spirit, generous heart, and the warmth he brought into every life he touched.
