Mary Ann Alexander Nixon

Mary Ann Alexander Nixon, 83, of Edenton, NC passed away peacefully at Chowan River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Monday, January 19, 2026.

Born on March 30, 1942 in Chowan County, NC, Mary was the wife of 40 years to the late Ray Nixon and the daughter of William Alexander and Doris Twiddy Alexander, both deceased. Mary was a faithful member at Cape Colony Church of Christ, Edenton, NC.

Survivors include her daughter, Teresa K. Bramblett and husband, Ed; three sons, Robert W. Kephart and wife, Louise, David R. Kephart and wife, Patricia, and Bobby R. Kephart and wife, Jonni; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brother, Billy Alexander; sister, Betty Jean Pittman; and long-time friend of 24 years, Kenneth Lamb.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Ward.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, Edenton, NC.

Funeral services celebrating Mary’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026 at the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home Chapel, Edenton, NC. Interment will follow at Beaver Hill Cemetery, Edenton, NC.
