Marty Rountree, Sr.

   Robert Martin "Marty" Rountree, Sr., 59, of 006 Knight Lane, Corapeake, NC, passed away Friday, April 29, 2022.

   Mr. Rountree was born in Suffolk, VA on June 3, 1962, and was the son of the late Holtman Coston Rountree and Mary Anne Gray Johns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca Rountree, a brother, Peter Rountree, and by his step-father, William Harold "Bill" Johns, Sr. A mechanic, he owned and operated Mobile Fleet Repair.

   Surviving is his wife of 34 years, Barbara Bundy Rountree; six children, Melissa Howell (Matthew) of Murfreesboro, William Rountree (Minela) of Jacksonville, FL, Heather Rountree, Crystal Rountree, Holly Davis (Eric), and Jonathan Rountree, all of Corapeake; three step-sisters, Sharon Brown of Suffolk, Wanda Carothers of Portsmouth, VA, and Kathryn Rocha of Hampton, VA; a step-brother, Bill Johns, Jr. of Surry, VA; seven grandchildren, Jasmine, Skylar, Marshall, Meli, Charlotte, Caroline, and Blake; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

   A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and will be conducted by the Rev. Troy Sing.  Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home immediately following the service, and other times at the residence.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to any chapter of the American Heart Association.
