Lynda Long Givens, 65, of Tyner, NC, passed away peacefully Friday, August 23, 2024, in ECU Health Chowan Hospital, Edenton, where she was surrounded by her loving family.
She is survived by her longtime companion, Jonathan Bean; her daughter, Tabatha Givens Baker (Chris); daughter in law, Tammy Bowen Givens; brother, Bill Thompson (Nicole) of Alpharetta, GA; sister, Lisa Nock (Walter) of Douglasville, GA; three grandchildren, Chase and Claire Baker, and Tyler Givens; nephew, Josh Hart (Jess), and a niece, Jenn Awesome (Chris).
Ms. Givens was born in Pasquotank County and was the daughter of the late Calvin Robert and Audrey Davis Long. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Scott Patton Givens, Jr., and by a nephew, Joseph Hart.
She attended Up River Friends Meeting and enjoyed the fellowship in its SOULS Ministry where she volunteered in providing meals for those in need. She was certainly known for her love of all animals, especially horses, dogs and cats.
A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Up River Friends Meeting and will be conducted by Pastor Karl Luff. Friends may visit with the family in the meeting house fellowship hall immediately following the service on Tuesday.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the staff of ECU Health Chowan Hospital and to her medical social worker in palliative care, Ginger Griffin, for the compassionate care provided during their time of need.
