Loretta Parks Sawyer Shaw

Loretta Jeanne Parks Sawyer Shaw, 77, of 751 Macedonia Road, Edenton, NC, passed away Friday, May 16, 2025, in her home where she was being cared for by family.

Mrs. Shaw was born in Chowan County on April 21, 1948, and was the daughter of the late Thomas Jarvis and Alice Mae Hassell Parks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne “Flap” Sawyer. Loretta retired as a secretary from the Edenton-Chowan School System Central Office and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Loretta is survived by her husband of nearly eight years, Holt Shaw; her daughter, Greer DeVine (Jarret) of Greenville; a son, Thomas Wayne “Tom” Sawyer of Nags Head; four grandchildren, Miranda (Josh), Victoria (Taylor), Wayne, and Leicyn; one great-grandson, Colton; and her adopted family: Reba, Perry, and Hunter Wynns, Linda Parrish, and Cindy Olson.

Graveside services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the gravesite immediately following the services on Sunday and all other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any chapter of the American Cancer Society.
