Lois Jean Copeland Peele, 85, formerly of Rocky Hock Road, Edenton, and more recently of Tyner, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022 in Sentara CarePlex Hospital, Hampton, VA.
Mrs. Peele was born in Perquimans County on April 14, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Luther Darvis and Mary Onella Robertson Copeland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph William Peele, a sister, Margaret Jordan, and by brothers, Hollis and Jarvis Copeland.
A homemaker, in earlier years she had been employed with both George C. Moore Company and Roses Department Store, and had also worked as a house cleaner in various homes in the community. A faithful member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church, she was active in the Ruth Harrell Circle where she had served as its secretary for over 25 years.
Surviving is her daughter, Donna Peele Sandel (husband, Marc) of Tyner; two sisters, Lillie Bell Ogle of Tyner and Linda Evans of Edenton; a brother, Clifton Copeland of Tyner; four grandchildren, Wesley Alan Copeland and Wendy Taylor Copeland, both of Tyner, Josh Sandel (wife, Tricia) of Spring Hill, FL and Cameron Sandel (wife, Sara Beth) of Sebring, FL; and five great-grandchildren, Caleb and Katherine Copeland, and Jaxon, Cora Beth, and Levi Sandel.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by the Rev. Thomas Gregory. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home immediately following the service on Sunday. A private burial will be in the Copeland Family Cemetery.
