Linda Parker Rose, 71, of 089 Gatlington Road, Gates, NC, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2024 in Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, VA.
Ms. Rose was born in Hertford County on December 2, 1952, and was the daughter of the late Herbert Murray, Sr. and Virginia Truitt Eure “Jennie” Parker. A retired secretary, she had been employed with Moyler, Rainey and Cobb Law Firm in Franklin, VA for 25 years and later worked for the Dean of Education at Chowan University. A member of Reynoldson Baptist Church, she was an avid animal lover and enjoyed the friendships made through her small business, Linda’s Jam and Jelly.
Surviving is her son, Jason Randolph Rose (Michelle) of Gates; her grandson, Hunter Rose of Gates; two sisters, Nita Parker of Beaufort and Annette Askew (Reggie) of Eure; a brother, Herbert M. “Bert” Parker, Jr. (Mary) of Mount Pleasant; nieces and nephews, Stuart (Laura), Nicholas (James), Maureen (Doug), and Ashley (Justin); several great-nieces and nephews; and many loving cousins.
A memorial service will be held Sunday. June 2, at 3:00 p.m. in Reynoldson Baptist Church and will be conducted by the Revs. Cody Brinkley and Ricky Byrum. Friends may visit with the family in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the service on Sunday; and other times at Jason and Michelle’s home, 746 NC 13 North, Gates.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made either to Tri-County Animal Shelter, 138 Icaria Road, Tyner, NC 27980 or to Gates Volunteer Fire Department, 459 Gates School Road, Gates, NC 27937.
