Lillie Forbes English

Lillie Forbes English, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 10, 2026, surrounded by her devoted family. Born on November 9, 1936, in Camden, NC, Lillie was a cherished daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many.

Lillie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eldridge Eugene English Sr. who she is now with; son, Timothy Wayne English; her father, Dell Forbes; her mother, Addie Forbes; and her siblings, Delma Dail (Hubert), Lathan Forbes (Josephine), and Issac Forbes.

She is survived by her loving son, Eldridge "Gene" English Jr. and his wife, Janie, grandchildren: Bobby (Charity), Trudy, TJ (Jessica), Katie (Roberto), Amy (Matt), Heather (Fidel), Holly (Tyson), along with her 16 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and two more great-great-grandchildren expected soon.

Lillie also shared her life with her faithful companion of five years, Ellie Belle, a devoted dog who rarely left her side.

Throughout her life, Lillie demonstrated a profound commitment to her family and community. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her generous spirit resonated with everyone she met. Known lovingly to all as "Mamaw," Lillie placed the needs of others before her own and embraced everyone with deep affection.

Lillie's love for life extended from the heartwarming gatherings of the Currituck Square Dance Club to the quiet moments spent solving word find puzzles. Her vibrant spirit and dedication to her family and friends will be sorely missed but fondly remembered.
