Laura Streuli Rowell

   Laura Streuli Rowell, of Hertford, NC, quietly passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022 after a two year fight with cancer.

   Born in Norfolk, VA, on March 9, 1952, she was the oldest daughter of Cmdr. Joseph Streuli, Ret. and Dellinger Dailey Streuli. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David, of Virginia Beach, VA.

   She was a member of the 1970 graduating class at Lake Taylor High School in Norfolk, VA. Her near 30 year career in telephony spanned from analogue to digital, and took her to Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina.

   After retirement she moved to Hertford where she enjoyed life with friends playing golf, and served in many roles at both Open Door and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.

   Left to cherish her memory is her husband, William “Billy” Rowell, also of Hertford. Surviving along with her husband is a sister, Terri Johnson (Paul) of Orange Park, FL, and a brother, Phillip Streuli (Tina) of New Albany, IN.

   She had two daughters, Betsy Mathews (Mark) and Kim Jones (AJ) all of Kennesaw, GA; five grandchildren, along with their four spouses; and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.

   Services will be held Wednesday, February 23, at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, and will be led by Father Robert Beauchamp. Friends may join the family for a reception in the Parish House immediately following the services.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 207 South Church Street, Hertford, NC 27944.
