Larry Equils

Larry Equils, 73, of Roper, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2026 at his home. Mr. Equils was born in Beaufort County on July 20, 1952, and was the son of the late Albert Julius and Dorothy Elizabeth Blanford Equils.

Mr. Equils was an equipment operator with Dare County, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working on cars. He was a former volunteer with the Creswell Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Deborah Smyth Equils; two daughters, Cheryl Paz and her husband, Marco, and Crystal Phillips; a sister, Patricia Tatem; two brothers, Marvin Equils and Kenneth Equils and his wife, Karen; a brother-in-law, Jerry Smyth and his wife, Jackie; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

At Larry's request, services and interment will be private.
