Kenneth Wade Cowper, Sr.

   Kenneth Wade “Kenny” Cowper, Sr., 73, of 883 NC 137, Eure, NC, died Thursday, April 18, 2024, in his home.

   Mr. Cowper was born in Gates County on December 1, 1950, and was the son of the late Lyman Vernon and Adell Doughtie Cowper.

   A Log Scaler, he was employed with Ashton Lewis Lumber Company in Gatesville for 52 years. He was a member of Eure Christian Church, an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed the friendships established in his membership in both White Oak Hunt Club and Ray’s Beach Fishing Club. He had served in the North Carolina National Guard.

   Surviving are two sons, Ken Cowper (Ginny) of Eure and Brandon Cowper (Heather) of Camden; a granddaughter, Emma Cowper of Sunbury; a brother, Ronald Cowper of Eure; a niece, Layla Cowper of Wisconsin; and many extended family members and friends.

   Graveside services will be held Sunday, April 21st, at 2:00 p.m. on the family plot at Eure Christian Church, and will be conducted by his pastor, The Rev. Wade Bennett. Friends may visit with the family in the social hall immediately following the service or all other times at the residence.

   Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
