Judith Temple Cauley, 92, of 201 Powers Drive, Elizabeth City, NC, passed away Friday, October 25, 2024, in Waterbrooke of Elizabeth City.
Mrs. Cauley was born in Pasquotank County on October 24, 1932, and was the daughter of the late George Clarence and Ruth Sanders Temple. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Scott Cauley, Jr, sons, Paul Scott Cauley, George Michael Cauley, Sr., and Ronnie Louis Cauley, Sr., a sister, Cynthia Stowe, and by a brother, Allen Ray Temple.
A homemaker, she was a faithful member of Berea Baptist Church where she had served in the nursery for many years. Other enjoyments included her love of cooking and baking, especially on holidays when she prepared weeks in advance making sure to have plenty of cakes and sweets for her family.
Surviving are her two sons, Dwight Cauley (Debbie) and Ron Cauley; daughter-in-law, Joyce Cauley, all of Elizabeth City; former daughter-in-law, Darlene Seymour of Hertford; seven grandchildren, Michael “Bubba” Cauley, Rhonda Ownley (Robbie), Brandon Seymour, Crystal Phelps (Ryan), Hayley Cauley, Jason Cauley (Heather), and Jake Cauley (Nikki); nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Berea Baptist Church and will be conducted by her pastor, The Rev. Jason Wise. The private burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit the family in the church the hour prior to the service on Tuesday, and all other times at Dwight and Debbie’s home, 692 Firetower Road, Elizabeth City.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Gentiva Hospice (her caregiver Brenda), to the staff of Waterbrooke, and to Jan Sawyer (a dear friend and fellow church member), for all the love and care provided to Mrs. Cauley during her time of need.
