John Wayne Bundy

John Wayne Bundy, 80, of Foreman Bundy Road, Elizabeth City, NC passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Elizabeth City on January 3, 1946 to Luther “Son” Bundy and Ida Burgess Bundy, both deceased. John was the husband of Winnie Brickhouse Bundy for 61 years. He was a farmer, carpenter and jack of all trades.

Survivors include his two daughters, Belinda Corbell and husband, Keith of Elizabeth City, and Nina Needham and husband, Steve of Camden; three sons, John “Bud” Bundy and wife, Pam of Elizabeth City, Eddie Bundy and wife, Susan of Camden, and Ray Bundy and wife Amy of Elizabeth City; one brother, Luther Clyde Bundy of Elizabeth City; twelve grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, William E. Bundy and half sister, Patsy Eure.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, Hertford, NC.

Funeral services celebrating John’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026 at the Miller & Van Essendelft Chapel, Hertford, NC with Rev. Rick Lowery and Eddie Bundy officiating. Interment will follow in the Lowe-Bundy Family Cemetery.
