John Thomas “Tommy” Stallings, 88, of Craney Island Road, Belvidere, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026 in his home.
Born on June 20, 1937, Tommy was the son of the late Johnnie James Stallings and Louise Eason Stallings. A hardworking and devoted man, he spent many years as a rigger in the rigging department at Norfolk Naval Shipyard before retiring. He also served his country in the National Guard.
Tommy was a faithful member of Up River Friends Meeting, where he found great joy in his church community and was also a member and very active with Gideon International. Known for his love of the land, he cherished time outdoors and the values of hard work, faith, and family.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Lona Davenport Stallings; two daughters, Cheryl White and husband Mike of Belvidere, NC, and Donna Shockley and husband Carl of Dover, PA. He also leaves behind cherished grandchildren, Chay White, Tiffany White Rhodes and husband Jimmy, Kelly Oliver and husband Tim; along with his beloved great-grandchildren, Landon and Olivia Rhodes, Lizzy Oliver and Colton White.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026 at Up River Friends Meeting, 523 Up River Road, North Carolina, with Pastor Karl Luff officiating. A private burial will follow in Up River Cemetery in Belvidere, NC.
