John Randolph Pippins

   John Randolph Pippins, 88, of 1213 County Line Road, Belvidere, NC, died Thursday, April 27, 2023 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City.

   Mr. Pippins was born in Smithfield, Virginia on February 3, 1935, and was the son of the late James M. and Minnie Combs Pippins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Patrick, and by sisters, Rosa Lee and Louise.

   A retired farmer and a member of Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church, many will remember his love of family. The children, grandchildren, and now great-grandchildren, could always depend on him being at the ballgames, livestock shows, and wherever else they were involved.

   A loving and faithful husband for over 61 years, he is survived by his wife, Joanne Chappell Pippins, and their children, daughters, Donna Chappell (Wayne) of Hertford and Marlene Brabble (Steve) of Belvidere; sons, Mike Pippins (Ali) of Edenton, Danny Pippins (Monica) of Hertford, and J.P. Pippins (Megan) of Belvidere; 19 grandchildren, Heather, Haley, Kayla, Drew, Camryn, Jordan, Kinlee, Adam, Chase, Courtney, Jenna, Eric, Cary, Hannah, Brayden, Finleigh, Ashlie, Ryne, and Meredith; and 10 great-grandchildren, Gemma, Nolan, Mary Kathleen, Elizabeth, Landon, Brynn, Karter Grace, Johnny, Ainsley, and Eli. Also surviving is his sister, Jean Oliver of Smithfield, VA; and many nieces, nephews, and other members of both the Pippins and Chappell families.

   A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 30^th, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton. The inurnment will be a later time in the Chappell Family Cemetery near the home. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home immediately following the service, or all other times at the residence.
