John Charles Phillips, 91, of Hertford, NC, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his residence on Thursday, March 26, 2026.

Born on August 6, 1934 in Chowan County, NC, John was the husband of Ivy Russell Phillips and the son of Johnny Phillips and Elaine Holleman Phillips, both deceased. John honorably served in the U.S. Air Force and retired as Master Chief after more than 20 years of dedicated service.

Survivors include his wife, Ivy of the home; daughter, Jennifer Phillips of Hertford, NC; son, John Phillips and wife, Anita of Houston, TX; fifteen grandchildren; forty-plus great grandchildren; and brother, Phillip Phillips and wife, Linda of Kalama, WA.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Randy Phillips; and sister, Patricia Bennett.

A graveside service celebrating John’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at the Phillips Family Cemetery, 160 Phillips Landing Road, Hertford, NC with Rev. Wallace Phillips officiating.
