John Thomas Long, Jr.

   John Thomas Long, Jr., 86, of Elizabeth City, NC, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022 in his home.

   Mr. Long was born in Pasquotank County on March 5, 1936, and was the son of the late John Thomas, Sr. and Sarah Marie Frue Long. A retired Production Manager with Norfolk Shipbuilding & Drydock Corporation, he was a Master Mason, a Shriner and a member of the Scottish Rite. A veteran, he had served in the US Army.

   Surviving is his wife, Nancy Craft Long; his daughter, Karen Long Szczepanski (husband, Bob) of Shawboro; two grandchildren, Kaitlynn Peterson (husband, Brad) and Joshua Szczepanski; a great-grandson, Cooper Peterson; and his cousin who was like a brother to him, Ronnie Long (wife, Frances).

   A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Elizabeth City. Friends may visit with the family at the gravesite immediately following the service.
