John "Perry" Byrum

John “Perry” Byrum, 78, of Edenton, NC, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025.

Born and raised in North Carolina, Perry built a full and meaningful life rooted in family, hard work, and the simple joys he loved most. He spent his career as a dedicated banker, serving his community with integrity and kindness. Outside of work, Perry found his greatest happiness near the water. He loved fishing, spending time around the Outer Banks, and especially cherished the peaceful days at Oregon Inlet flounder fishing.

He was also an avid sports fan who rarely missed a good basketball or football game. Whether watching with family or cheering from his favorite chair, sports brought him joy and connection.

Perry is survived by his son, John Byrum; his daughter-in-law, Melissa Byrum; his beloved grandsons, Luke Byrum and Parker Byrum; his brothers, Dalmond Byrum and Mark Byrum; and his devoted companion, Lynn White. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Byrum, whose memory he carried with him always.

A memorial service to honor his life will be held at Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday, November 23, at 2:00 PM.

Perry will be remembered for his bold spirit, his love of the coast, and the friendly presence he offered to all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
