Joey Towe

   Joseph Henry “Joey” Towe IV, 63, of 2804 Skewer Court, Williamsburg, VA, died Saturday, July 29, 2023 in VCU Medical Center, Richmond, VA.

   Joey was born on June 22, 1960, raised in Hertford, NC overlooking the Perquimans River, and was the son of Joseph H. Towe, Jr. of Hertford and the late Nancy Llewellyn Towe of Fripp Island, SC.

   A retired Resort, Country Club, and Touring Tennis Professional, he was certified by the United States Professional Tennis Association, and had worked at Fripp Island Racquet Club, Coyaba Beach Resort in Jamaica, Olde Cypress Country Club in Naples, FL, and Sandpiper Beach Resort in Barbados. While at Chowan Academy he played basketball and was a star Forward, and later graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from North Carolina Wesleyan University in Rocky Mount, NC.

   Surviving in addition to his father is his wife, Karolee Jones Towe; their daughter, Kali Marie Panoutsos of Williamsburg; two sisters, Weston Towe Miller of Hilton Head, SC and Llewellyn Towe Fedorchak (husband, Darrin) of Naples, FL; and several extended family members and friends.

   A private graveside service will be held Saturday, August 12th, on the family plot in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church Cemetery, 207 South Church Street, Hertford.
