Jerry Lee Phelps

   Jerry Lee Phelps, 79, of 607 Old Cherry Road, Creswell, NC, died Wednesday, April 12, 2023 in ECU Health Medical Center, Greenville.

   Mr. Phelps was born in Washington County on December 19, 1943 and was the son of the late Milton Claude and Alethia Picolia Allen Phelps. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah Mann Phelps; and by two sisters and three brothers.

   A retired pipefitter from Weyerhaeuser Corp. in Plymouth where he worked for over 40 years, he was a member of Philippi Church of Christ, Creswell Post #391 of The American Legion, and had been a volunteer with the Meals on Wheels Adult Nutrition Program. He had served in the United States Army.

   Surviving is his wife of nearly 24 years, Ruth Phillips Phelps; daughters, Inga Moore Stotesberry (Don) of Roper and Jessica Spruill of Culpeper, VA; and five grandchildren, Gabrielle and Cloe Spruill, Scotty Moore, Jr., Mitch Moore (Kaitlyn), and Lelon Stotesberry. Also surviving are two sisters, two brothers, and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

   Friends may visit with the family on Friday evening, April 14^th, from 7 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton.
