Jeanette Chappell Nixon, 90, of Edenton, NC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

Born on May 16, 1936, Jeanette was the wife of the late Thomas Nixon and the daughter of Percy Chappell and Elva Leigh Chappell, both deceased.

Survivors include her four daughters, Nadine Harris, Arlene Spear and Husband, Jackie, Cristle Bass, and Lisa Davenport and husband, Rickey; seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and three sisters, Jean Dail, Joanne Pippins, and Judy Smith and husband, Larry.

In addition to her husband and parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by an infant son; grandson, Hunter Joyner; sister, June Paige Cox; and brother, E.L. Chappell.

Funeral services celebrating Jeanette’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026 at Rocky Hock Baptist Church, Edenton, NC with Pastor Trey Rogers officiating. Interment will be private at the Chappell Family Cemetery, Belvidere, NC.

The family will receive friends at Mrs. Nixon's residence at 147 Nixon Road, Edenton, NC 27932.
