Jean Tribou Spivey, 73, of Zion Road, Hobbsville, NC, passed away at her home in her daughter's arms on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
Jean was born in Wake County on April 9, 1951, and was the daughter of the late Henry Russell Tribou and Isabel Peggy Partin Tribou. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Julia Tribou Nixon.
Many in the area will remember her through her various jobs at United Piece & Dye Works, Red Apple Market in Hobbsville (formerly Grant’s and now Duck-Thru), and Graham’s Store. She had also worked seasonally grading peanuts and had cleaned houses for many wonderful families that became her friends. Jean loved her daughter, her pets, appreciated the love and kindness of her brother, loved flowers in bloom, birds and birdhouses, and all of God’s creatures.
Surviving is her daughter, Kristin Spivey Mathias (husband, Daniel) of Gates; a brother, Harry Russell Tribou of Indiantown, FL; and many, many, friends and extended family members.
A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the Watery Swamp Hunt Club, 176 Water Swamp Road, Sunbury. The family requests that everyone wear casual clothing.
