Jean Ann Shelby Charron, 61, of Edenton, NC passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023 in ECU Health Chowan Hospital.
Mrs. Charron was born in Niles, Michigan on July 10, 1962 and was the daughter of the late Archie Clifton Shelby and Eulalia Wetmore Joo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Shelby and step-father, Frank Joo, both of Niles, Michigan.
She was a graduate of Niles High School in Niles, Michigan and for the next 30 years, she worked in the healthcare field in medical billing, working at various doctors, dentists, and hospitals.
Jean was a loving wife, mother and a very proud grandmother. One of her favorite hobbies was creating mosaics from glass she would hand-cut herself, and could turn a stepping stone slab of cement into a beautiful work of art. She also had a great love for all things rocks, gemstones, and crystals.
Jean loved her doggie time with her three dogs and would enjoy hikes in the woods with her husband and dogs romping at their sides, or playing in the back yard, or just resting in their special chair in the living room.
She was introduced to the sci-fi/horror movie genre at a very young age, and has relished them ever since. She would stay up late as a young child to watch Creature Feature on TV with her sisters, or as an adult, send movie suggestions for family to watch that she had enjoyed.
She was an avid reader, loved sugar skulls, and had a wonderful sense of humor - an example would be on her Facebook page for her choice of languages was English and Pig Latin! She took great pleasure in sending jokes to everyone if she thought they were funny. Jean loved to pass on jokes that made her happy, smile or laugh to her family and friends.
Surviving is her husband of 23 years, John Charron of Edenton; her children, U.S. Navy Chief Electronics Technician Kyle Sherwood (fiancé Jessica Settles) of Norfolk, VA, and Danielle Barker (spouse U.S. Navy Machinist Mate Second Class Joshua Barker) of Hampton, VA; three sisters, Madeline Shelby of Lubbock, TX, Barbara Shelby of South Bend, IN, and Joan Shelby Norman (spouse Dale) of Cassopolis, MI; and one brother, James (spouse Donna) Shelby of Arkansas; four grandchildren, Chase, Colton, Hudson, and Maisyn; and many nephews and nieces.
Jean was a life-long animal lover and a dedicated pet parent, leaving behind her three beloved fur baby dogs, Murphy, Cooper, and Charlie.
A gathering and time of visitation will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, NC. Family and friends may join at this time to share stories and celebrate Jean’s life.
